History of the Roving Clinic
At the start of the pandemic in 2020, St. Paul’s PACE quickly implemented multiple solutions to bring care to homebound patients as safely as possible. One of these solutions was converting a passenger van into a makeshift mobile clinic for making house calls. After seeing the incredible impact this had on our PACE participants, we decided to take things a step further.
With help from the community and a generous donation from Dick and Dorothea Laub, St. Paul’s raised the funds to develop a custom, state-of-the-art Roving Clinic. This vehicle is fully equipped with the tools needed to serve seniors in the community who cannot come to our PACE centers. Its utilization and availability are dependent distance/travel time, parking availability, and ground evenness of parking areas.
Community Outreach Opportunity: ‘Roving’ Around San Diego!
St. Paul’s PACE is proud to offer community outreach services with the help of our PACE Roving Clinic. Our team of professionals can come out to your senior center, senior living community or community event to provide a variety of services including:
- Blood pressure checks
- Fall risk assessments
- Vaccines
- Educational presentations and literature
- And more, just ask!
Telehealth Care: Virtual Doctor Appointments for Seniors
Telehealth care has been an integral part of St. Paul’s PACE. When medically feasible and upon request, our physicians offer medical appointments through phone and video conferencing, giving participants the option to communicate with providers from the comfort of their homes.
This is a convenient option for follow-up appointments, though certain aspects of care are best addressed in-person. Initial visits and vital assessments must be conducted in person, especially when participants are experiencing symptoms or requiring new medications.
